Winner at LA Webfest!

The show was lucky enough to pick up not one but TWO awards at the Los Angeles Web Series Festival (aka LA WebFest) on the 05th of May! Not only were we honoured with Best Comedy (Podcast) but Lauren Anderson also picked up Best Director (Podcast)! Super proud of all our our cast and crew.

Whilst we couldn’t make the trip all the way from Australia, champion of the Audio Fiction World Cup Ned Donovan was able to accept the awards on our behalf and read out our acceptance speeches. We can’t wait to get those trophies back home!

Thank you from Australia to the entire LA Webfest team, all the judges and to Ned and his work to see fiction podcasts be celebrated!

We are so proud to see our unapologetically silly queer show recognised tonight alongside the other incredible nominees, and we’re so grateful for every single listener from around the world. We had the best time making this show, and it wouldn’t be what it was without the ridiculous talent of our hilarious cast and crew.

Sharing joyful queer shows like Starship Q Star feels so important right now, and we are so lucky to be a part of the amazing Audio Drama community who are making so many incredible, diverse stories with so much love.

Acceptance speech from Lauren Anderson for Best Director (Podcast):

All I’ve ever wanted to do was tell funny queer stories full of dumb jokes and lots of heart. So I feel so lucky to create this show and get to bring it to life as director, especially in a time when joyful LGBTQIA+ representation feels especially important.

Directing this series has been nothing short of a joy. Thank you to our incredible cast and crew for making my job the most fun, collaborative job possible. And special thanks to  my wife and co-creator Meegan may who makes me better both on the job and off, every single day.
